3 year old loves it. (2010-06-17) : 5/5
My 3 year old son receives this magazine and loves it! Informative, but simple enough for him to grasp easily. He really loves the animal "trading cards" that come with the magazine. I bought him a 3 ring binder and baseball card holder pages (you have to trim the cards a little to make fit) to put them in and he looks through them often. br /The only bad part is it only comes every other month and is not long enough, but we reread them often and save the magazines in the pocket of the 3 ring binder for little sister when she gets older.

Disappointed , Very Little Content! (2010-05-28) : 1/5
Just got this in the mail today for my 4 year old. I am suprised to see such a high quality magazine, put out such a low quality "kids" version!br /br /This magazine is writen for 3-6 year olds, but I think it's more suitable for 1-2 year olds. The average length of an "article" in this magazine is 2 pages long (no page turning required), and consists of 3-4 sentences!br /br /The actual size of this magaize of this magazine is about half the size of a normal magazine (it's only 6.5"X 7"). Very thin too, only 24 pages (turn the page 12 times and it's over), and the content is very random!br /br /I called to cancel and they said they would refund the full amount. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Great mag, but why the stock photos? (2010-01-22) : 4/5
This is a very cute little magazine that is well-conceived for a very young audience. My one-year-old loves looking at it, since it is "hers" and is very colorful. The text is simple and the articles are suited to a short attention span: four pages tops, mostly pictures. The "departments" include: Matching, Sorting, Naming, Science, Geography, Crafts, Experiment, and Humor, all perfect for a tot, and with room to grow into some of the more "advanced" departments. One thing has me utterly baffled, however. Most of the photo credits are from photo banks like Getty images and iStock. Is National Geographic really unable to scare up more than 1 or 2 of its own photos per issue? Huh (stumped look on face). Nice not to have to look at any ads, though.

Not too much, not too little, just right! (2009-07-31) : 5/5
My daughter has a lot of fun with this magazine. After enjoying the pictures and "reading", it took her almost a week to get around to the animal cards which she took great joy in carefully cutting out (disdaining to tear them out like designed). All in all, a great little magazine which is not too much, not too little; in fact, it's just right!br /br /Currently, July 2009, they have 1 year, 6 issues for $15 and 2 years, 12 issues for $25. These are listed on the tear-out subscription cards from one of the magazines I picked up at the store. If you go to the NatGeo for LitKids website they only have the one year price listed. If you intend to get two years, it is a better deal to buy with the card. (Unless, of course, Amazon's price of $24.95 for 1 year, 6 issues is a typo and they actually mean 2 years, which I doubt.) This would be a nice magazine to offer as a monthly subscription.

It's small (and cheaper elsewhere) (2009-02-20) : 3/5
I have to agree with other reviewers - this magazine in really small. And I don't mean that it doesn't have many pages, although that's also true. Its dimensions are also small - around 4" X 6". It's just a really small magazine in every sense. My daughter does enjoy it, but for the price, you'd expect something that had both more and larger pages. In addition, as other reviewers have noted, you can find it cheaper at places other than Amazon (as of Feb 2009). br /br /If you want some cool nature pics and games for your kid and have a few bucks to blow, go ahead. But don't get it from Amazon.
